Nikos Kazantzakis bust in the Heraklion airport
The bust of Nikos Kazantzakis finally dominates in the airport departure hall of Heraklion’s “Nikos Kazantzakis” airport! The private initiative by the Logiades brothers is taking place!
It is a decades vision which takes shape, with thousands of visitors to face the bust of Cretan writer. The prolific and diverse output of the writer Nikos Kazantzakis represents a major contribution to modern Greek literature. He is perhaps best known for his widely translated novels, including the popular Zorba the Greek.
The bust is created by sculptor George Roussis who maintains statues and busts in Heraklion, which had not been maintained for decades. The costs are covered by the Logiadis brothers who truly show their sensitivity to culture issues.
Overall, Logiadis brothers cover the expenses for the maintenance and restoration of more than 100 statues of which 30 of them are already “beaming”, and the image is really striking.
